Trieste, D’Agostino also president of the Port of Monfalcone

TRIESTE - The Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has approved Zeno D’Agostino as the new president of the Port Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea. The new Port Authority will include the Port of Monfalcone and later on also Porto Nogaro.

One of the tasks of the new president will be the integration of the Port of Trieste with other port infrastructure of the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. In order to do that, D’Agostino is going to constantly look for new investors, promoting the traffic, the rail connections and the development of marketing strategies especially abroad. “One of the next step will be the further upgrading of the infrastructure of the Campo Marzio Station. Next week we are going to sign the agreement with the Region and the Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), the Italian railway network, for the final project and a 70 million euros joint investment, thanks to which we will be able to triple the number of trains we move today” states D’Agostino. Meanwhile the relaunch of the free port zone and the development of the activities related goes on. D’Agostino explains: “The market follows the facts: 18 metres of draft and a rail capacity that no one in the North Adriatic Sea has. For this reason the market is paying us back. We will carry on focusing on this aspect to promote Trieste and its Port”.
