TRIESTE – De Wave, a leading group in the ship outfitting sector, has signed contracts worth €630 million over the past six months with luxury cruise operators. «In this context, Italy plays a leading role. In our country’s shipyards – explains Riccardo Pompili, CEO of De Wave we will carry out works worth around €450 million, with significant involvement of all companies along the supply chain. Moreover, regarding the orders to be fulfilled in France, one of the two selected facilities is Italian-owned. This proves how Made in Italy remains essential not only in shipbuilding but even more so in the luxury segment». De Wave thus confirms its role as a key player in this new season of orders aimed at renewing the fleets of several major cruise lines.

In particular, De Wave has been selected to design and build the suites and high-end public areas on nine newbuilds for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Oceania Cruises, and Crystal Cruises: these are new ships to be built in Italian shipyards, and the value of this contract is approximately €450 million. In France, the group will carry out refitting works on the Mariner and Voyager, two large vessels operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, which will be upgraded by De Wave. The works will take place in the dry docks of Marseille and will last three weeks. As for newbuilds in France, the Italian group has already secured major contracts to deliver the interior areas of vessels for MSC and RCCL, where work is already underway. In the ultra-luxury segment, De Wave will build the suites and public areas of the Orient Express sailing ship, commissioned by Accor and being built at the Saint-Nazaire shipyards for a high-end clientele. The total value of the contract signed with Accor is around €130 million.

In Monfalcone, near the port, De Wave operates a 12,800-square-meter facility dedicated to the production of panels for use in shipbuilding. «De Wave is therefore confirmed as a global leader in its sector, thanks to its ability to operate as a general contractor across all accommodation areas: furniture, systems, and marine glazing – adds Pompili – . With the expansion of the group’s scope, through M&A operations that have enhanced De Wave’s expertise across all fields in which it operates, the company further strengthens its position as a ‘one-stop shop’».
