TRIESTE – “After ten years, SIOT-TAL will have a new President and CEO. Alessio Lilli will step down at the natural conclusion of his term at the end of June 2025, and starting July 1, Alessandro Gorla will take over leadership of the companies.” This is how the official statement begins from the group that handles crude oil traffic at the Port of Trieste, which, as reported yesterday on these pages, has announced a change at the top.
“As shareholders, we deeply value the strength of TAL and the dedication of its staff. We are committed to ensuring stability and continuity within the organization. After ten years of service and dedication, Alessio Lilli will step down as General Manager of TAL. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Alessio for his leadership and acknowledge his unwavering commitment and contribution, as well as that of all the employees who ensure TAL’s success every day.”
Alessio Lilli is described as “a cornerstone of TAL’s success over the past decade, leading the company with integrity, vision, and a deep personal dedication to our mission.” The statement continues: “Under his leadership, TAL has reached important milestones, fostered a culture of continuous improvement, and strengthened its role as a key European oil infrastructure. His passion, strategic mindset, and relentless pursuit of operational excellence have left a lasting impact on our organization. Alongside all our employees, Alessio has helped shape TAL’s success, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition. Alessio will remain in his role as General Manager until the end of June.”
“Transitions bring both reflection and anticipation. While we express our deep appreciation to Alessio Lilli for his years of service and commitment to leading TAL through June 2025, we look to the future with optimism and confidence. The future General Manager, Alessandro Gorla, will build on a solid foundation, working alongside our team to maintain TAL’s momentum. Alessandro will join us in June to become familiar with our stakeholders and ensure a smooth handover from Alessio Lilli,” the statement concludes.
Alessandro Gorla – SIOT-TAL explains – holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano and is fluent in Italian, English, and French. He brings over 25 years of high-level experience in the oil, gas, and energy sectors. He has held major leadership roles at OMV, Linde PLC, GE Oil & Gas, and Air Liquide Italia. Most recently, he served as Chief Advisor Trading and General Manager of OMV in the United Arab Emirates, where he was a member of the ADNOC Global Trading Executive Committee and coordinated local collaborations between OMV HQ and Masdar Green Hydrogen.
“Alessandro’s extensive experience in business development, trading, and operations management, combined with his strong financial acumen,” the shareholders conclude, “makes him an excellent addition to our organization. He will bring to SIOT-TAL his collaborative leadership style, strong stakeholder management skills, and commitment to safety and operational excellence. He has a proven track record of delivering results and fostering positive relationships across teams and cultures. We are confident that Alessandro’s leadership will ensure continuity in achieving our business objectives and will contribute to our continued success with the dedication and support of the entire TAL team.”
