TRIESTE – The Port of Rijeka Authority has signed a contract to strengthen the institution’s cybersecurity.
The agreement, concluded with the company CompING, is worth €112,428.75 and covers the supply of equipment and software, along with their installation and integration into the Authority’s information systems.

The contract results from a public procurement procedure launched as part of the pilot project “Procurement/Installation of Equipment and Software – CRESPORT Project”. The initiative is co-financed by the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 programme and aims to enhance the cybersecurity of Adriatic ports, which serve as strategic hubs for maritime mobility between Italy, Croatia, and the wider European area.

As part of the project, the Port of Rijeka Authority plans to carry out a detailed assessment of cyber threats, which will serve as the basis for strengthening the protection of its network. Particular focus will be placed on modernizing firewall infrastructure and raising standards for access control and user monitoring.

The CRESPORT project is led by the Port of Ravenna Authority. Among the Croatian partners are the ports of Dubrovnik, Rijeka, and Ploče; on the Italian side, participants include the North Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority, the Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority, the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port Authority, and the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority – Ports of Venice and Chioggia.

Recently, Luka Rijeka, the company managing the Croatian port, was hit by several hacker attacks, with damage limited thanks to an immediate cybersecurity response.
