TRIESTE – Only the Bora wind slowed down today’s arrival of the Maersk Valletta at the Port of Trieste, the first feeder vessel of the new Gemini alliance to call at the port.
The vessel, built in 2019 with a capacity of approximately 1,700 TEUs (172 meters in length and 28 meters in width), began operations at the terminal operated by HHLA Plt Italy and is expected to depart tomorrow for the Vecon terminal in Porto Marghera.
This is not actually the “true” service designed for the Adriatic by Maersk and Hapag Lloyd under the Gemini alliance, but rather the feeder line coming from Port Said to serve the ports of Trieste and Venice.
The ocean-going vessels, instead, are scheduled to call only at the Port of Koper, where the first containership has already arrived and departed en route to Rijeka.
