MONFALCONE – The first quarter of 2025 marked the highest average volume handled in the past 11 years for FHP Monfalcone. From January to March this year, a total of 846,105 tons were loaded and unloaded across import and export operations, representing a 66% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024 (509,725 tons) and a 22% rise over the same period in 2023 (692,836 tons). This results in the highest monthly average traffic over the past 11 years (see chart below). Alongside steel slabs, the main cargo categories handled included pulp and hot briquetted iron (HBI), while export steel products recorded a downward trend. A total of 307,530 tons were distributed and received by rail, accounting for 36% of the cargo moved by ship, and 33,251 tons were moved by barge, equal to 7% of the maritime traffic. Beyond the provisions of the Port Master Plan, strengthening the railway network will be crucial for the development of the Port of Monfalcone, further boosting its competitiveness.

The chart shows the average monthly volume handled in the first quarter over the past 11 years by the company now controlled by FHP Holding Portuale.
