TRIESTE – A new vessel—the largest and most modern—has joined the fleet of Delfino Verde Navigazione Srl, which currently operates four passenger ferries on the Trieste–Muggia public maritime transport route and the seasonal Trieste–Barcola–Grignano–Sistiana line.
By the end of the 2025 season, as part of its ongoing fleet renewal and modernization plan with a strong focus on sustainability, the company will carry out a retrofit of its sister ship, the Delfino Verde Deluxe, to convert it into a hybrid vessel. The new “Delfino Verde GT” was inaugurated today in Trieste with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by leading local authorities. Entirely handcrafted at the Foschi shipyard in Cesenatico, the vessel is 31 meters long and over 7 meters wide, with a maximum capacity of 330 passengers.
“Maritime transport holds strategic importance for the regional administration,” said FVG governor Massimiliano Fedriga during the ceremony at the Pescheria pier on Trieste’s waterfront, “both for its role in the growing tourism flows, which are showing steady increases in Friuli Venezia Giulia—even ahead of the summer season—and in terms of environmental sustainability, especially when comparing the number of passengers carried by a single vessel to those traveling in private vehicles.”
