Port of Trieste, a barge for the launch of the Seabourn Venture

TRIESTE - Molo VII in the Port of Trieste has been recently involved in the operation for the launch of a cruise ship from a semi-submersiblebarge.

The complex procedure, the first of its kind at Trieste port, involved a ship still under completion, the "Seabourn Venture": over 170 meters long and 24 meters wide the boat, destined to luxury cruises, is the largest ever manufactured by the Cimolai shipyards of Porto Nogaro. Cimolai shipyards also own the barge "Arcalupa", which was used for this exceptional operation and which saw its testing and inspection processes taking place last February in the stretch of water mirroring Molo VII, managed by Trieste Marine Terminal: a mandatory choice, given the unique characteristics guaranteed by the water depth - around 18 meters - and the quay space necessary to ensure the safe movement of personnel engaged on the ground.
Operations were attended by Harbour Master representatives and thanks to the engagement of port players altogether: pilots, tugs, mooring men, fire-fighting personnel, the staff of Trieste Marine Terminal and the Agencies involved.
