Port of Trieste, agreement between the Authority and the "food cluster" FVG

TRIESTE - Refrigerated warehouses and railway connection for the agro-food cluster of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region – a collaboration was established in Trieste between the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea and the FVG AgriFood and Bioeconomy Cluster Agency agro-alimentary park. Its aim is to promote the development strategies of the sector, in the port and logistics field.
«Trieste is a hub that works in conjunction with the regional infrastructures and continues to aim for the excellence of its offer. We decided to avail ourselves of the support and experience of the agro-food Cluster FVG, also in view of the creation of a new area dedicated to the food sector in our port, on which we are working» explained Zeno D'Agostino, president of the Authority.
Some specially equipped areas are being planned for the storage and organization of refrigerated food shipments, within the structure of Bagnoli della Rosandra (formerly Wärtsilä), recently acquired by the Interporto of Trieste.
It consists of a first nucleus of 2,000 sqm of temperature controlled cells, on a total of 76,000 sqm of warehouses and 150,000 sqm of squares, including a railway connection with the station of Aquilinia, which the Interporto of Trieste has at disposal to develop logistics and manufacturing activities. The first type of high-added-value goods on which it will aim for will be high quality food products of the wine and dairy branch, symbols of the "Made in Italy food" sector in the world.
"The goal - said Claudio Filipuzzi, president of the Cluster – is to develop a synergistic activity aimed at linking the new logistical and operational infrastructures to the territorial value chains, with innovative proposals both from an industrial and commercial point of view" .
The areas of collaboration identified by the two Authorities will go beyond the agri-food sector, including the creation of a biomethane terminal in the port area.
