The Port Authority discusses the hypotheses for new developments in rail connections at Transrussia

TRIESTE - Institutional meetings, evaluation of new markets and the hypotheses of developing the rail connections in the North Adriatic area, are part of the marketing plan of the Port Authority of Trieste. These matters were discussed by the Port Authority together with representatives of the Port of Monfalcone at the 20th edition of “TransRussia”, an international exhibition for transport and logistics that was held in Moscow from April 21st to April 24th.

The fair represents a point of reference for those who are interested in the Russian market, the CIS and in general Eastern Europe and the Baltic countries. Among the exhibitors, there are also the main logistics companies and the pavilions of Kazakistan, Belarus, Germany, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, for a total of 495 participating companies coming from 29 countries. The aim of the mission was the strengthening of the relationships with the Russian market and the countries from the former Soviet region. “We have been positively surprised by the interest and the visitor arrivals at the stand prepared together with the Port of Monfalcone. The fair was the ideal stage to present the services of our operators not only to the Russian players, but to a much larger market. We met some companies which were interested in the development of new traffic and the creation of new rail connections with Eastern Europe”, said the Commissioner of the Port of Trieste, Zeno D’Agostino. We also had the opportunity to meet the managers of the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce in Moscow and the representatives of the Ministry of Transport of the German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. TransRussia was the first event of the new marketing programme in the fairs in order to relaunch the Port of Trieste at international level. Many of the meetings will continue next week at Transport Logistic in Munich, where the Port of Trieste will be present both at the stand of the region Friuli-Venezia Giulia and at NAPA’s stand. In the first case, the aim is to support the operators’ business and to promote the development plan for the intermodal connections of the port, while in the second one is to focus on the presentation of the projects financed by the EU, conducted with the other ports of the North Adriatic Sea”.
