TRIESTE – The European Commission has approved the acquisition of sole control of Schenker AG (Germany) by DSV A/S (Denmark).
The deal, valued at approximately €14.8 billion, was assessed under the EU Merger Regulation. Schenker, currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG (Germany), can be transferred as the European Commission found that the transaction does not raise competition concerns, given its limited impact on the markets in which the companies operate. “In particular, the Commission examined the effects of the transaction in various national markets for freight forwarding by land, air, and sea, as well as in contract logistics within the European Economic Area. It found that due to the fragmented nature of these markets and the presence of numerous alternative service providers available to customers, the transaction does not raise concerns,” the EU decision states.
