TRIESTE – Starting April 28, the intermodal service operated by Hupac between Busto Arsizio and Padua will be transferred to the Novara terminal. This was announced by Hupac itself, explaining that the change is part of a network optimization plan. The connection between Veneto and Lombardy had also been introduced to offer alternatives after the suspension of the service between Pordenone (where Hupac manages the rail terminal) and Duisburg in early spring 2023. The feeder train (round trip) was intended to facilitate the modal shift of domestic traffic in Northern Italy. According to Hupac, the new route will bring benefits such as shorter transit times thanks to the new A–B performance, improved operational stability, and greater appeal for domestic traffic flows between northwestern and northeastern Italy, along with new synergies with international traffic thanks to the network of connections to and from Novara.

The Novara CIM Terminal is strategically located within the European rail network, with links to Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands to the north, France to the west, and multiple destinations in northeastern and central-southern Italy, offering several solutions for the transport of P400 trailers. Its location within the Novara Freight Village also allows access to a wide range of integrated warehouse logistics services.
