Adriafer, capital increase and new board of directors for the railway company

TRIESTE – A 300 thousand euro capital increase was approved in recent days for Adriafer, the company that deals with the railway manoeuvre at the Port of Trieste.

In addition to the capital increase, which may reach up to 2 million euros, Adriafer will have a Board of Directors. The decision was taken to allow the company, 100% controlled by the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, to manage further railway development and planned investments. «Better structure an entity that continues to grow in both its core business activities: railway manoeuvring and railway traction company, will serve to give new impetus to the company» explained Zeno D'Agostino, president of the Port Authority of Trieste. Adriafer has gone from an annual turnover of 2 million and 800 thousand euros in 2015 to 11 million euros in 2019, with a positive operating result. With the Railway Company certification obtained in 2017, it has operated on the routes of the port system, setting up 860 trains in 2019. Also important is the milestone of 10,000 trains operated, also reached in 2019.
Today the company operates eight overhauled and owned shunting locomotives and three rented locomotives, suitable for traction on the line. In recent years, all these activities have also allowed the expansion of the railway operator market in the Port of Trieste, currently represented by seven railway companies: in addition to Adriafer, Rail Cargo Carrier Italy, Rail Traction Company, Compagnia Ferroviaria Italiana, Mercitalia Rail, Inrail, Captrain.
