New services connecting Trieste and the Far East starting in january
TRIESTE - Three weekly services between the Trieste’s container terminal and the Far East will mark the start of direct overseas services. The lines will be managed by “2 M”, joint service between Maersk Line and MSC, by “Ocean three”, union between CMA CGM, UASC and China Shipping, as well as by “CKYHE Alliance”, composed of Cosco, K Line, Yang Ming, Hanjin and Evergreen.
It is an important signal that confirms the traffic growth and the interest of the main shipping companies in the world for the Adriatic Sea and its ports, but in particular for the port of Trieste. Thanks to its strategic position to reach the Southern and Eastern Europe, to its intermodal links by road and sea, to its 18 metres of natural draft and to its port infrastructure, today Trieste is able to berth and handle two large ocean vessels at the same time. As the efficiency and the competitiveness of a port are directly linked to its rail services, also in 2015 the operators of the Port of Trieste will continue to work hard in order to improve and expand their services. In particular, in addition to the new proposals concerning the international links, they will aim at reducing times and costs by unifying the train shunting.
