On its second open day the Port of Trieste enjoys great success

TRIESTE - The Port has been opened to the public in order to raise awareness of the production opportunities of the area. The successful event, organized by the Port Authority, included some guided tours within the New Free Zone, starting from the customs in Riva Traiana.
During the 60 minutes tour, the guests had the possibility to visit the structures of Molo V (Pier V) and to observe the sea manoeuvres of a police patrol boat as well as the ones of a tugboat. The tour continued with the visit of the Ro-Ro terminal and the flyover overlooking the maritime terminals. Then it went on with the highlight of the visit, Molo VII, reaching the container yard and observing the port operations as well as the mooring of a transoceanic container ship. The following step was the visit of Molo V and its offices at the pier root, where a short video was projected regarding the activities of the port of Trieste. In addition, during the day, the Port Authority announced the new traffic data, which confirm the positive trend in container handling: the first five months of the year recorded a 2.15% increase for a total of 196,637 teus.
