"Silk Road", new partners for port operators in Trieste

TRIESTE - The Port of Trieste will shortly reap the fruits of 3 years of missions to China with state-owned companies involved in the "Silk Road" project.

The president of the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, Zeno D'Agostino, announced it a few days ago in Paris, speaking at the conference "Dialogue between the continents". Recalling how Genoa and Trieste had already been chosen by China as ports to invest on, D'Agostino explained that in Trieste the subjects involved in the investments would become partners of operators that are already present in Port, enabling the upgrading and development of new docks, new terminals, new yards and port activities. According to D'Agostino, which is also president of Assoporti, the great infrastructure project envisaged by the "silk road" will increase the connections of the involved territories, thus enhancing freight traffic and therefore the industrial and logistics sectors.
