Port of Trieste reduces rates and optimises shunting operations

TRIESTE - Terminal operators are to expect lower costs and waiting times as Trieste’s Port optimises shunting operations.  The new services are scheduled for early January and will be carried out by Adriafer,  (a company owned by the Port Authority) and will achieve a long standing goal.

The simplification of the steps required for trains arriving and departing from quays, such as one locomotive instead of two to reach the international line, along with the substantial reduction in rates (calculated at around %30) will improve time lag. The Port of Trieste is also expected to increase competitiveness with Northern Adriatic ports and even more so, upon the completion of the Campo Marzio Station (at the service of the Port), to which 50 million Euro have already been allocated.
